TradersPost customers now have the ability to take the short side when trading automated strategies. When we launched TradersPost in early 2021, we launched long only with plans to release short trading at a later date. Well that date is here!

With short selling, an investor borrows a stock, sells the stock, and then buys the stock back to return it to the lender. Short sellers are betting that the stock they sell will drop in price. The difference between the sell price and the buy price is the profit.

Short selling is useful for automated trading strategies so you can make money when the stock is going up or down. Right now TradersPost only supports taking the long or the short side, but not both. We plan to continue improving this functionality to allow you to take both the long and short side of a strategy. This will allow you to exit an open position and then immediately enter a new position on the opposite side.

If you have any questions about this functionality or are interested in learning more about it, contact us at [email protected].
