Strategy Field

Ignore exits

The Ignore exits setting allows you to process only entry signals from your strategy while ignoring any exit signals that are sent.

When enabled, TradersPost will still create and execute entry orders as usual. However, any exit signals will be ignored. This gives you the flexibility to manage exits manually or through another system while continuing to automate entries through your strategy.

Use Cases

You might enable Ignore exits if:

  • You want to manage risk or take profits manually while keeping automated entries active.
  • You use a separate strategy or discretionary logic to handle exits.
  • You want to test or debug entry behavior without triggering exit orders

Behavior Details

  • Entry signals are still processed normally based on your strategy logic.
  • Exit signals will be received and logged but will not result in an order being submitted.
  • If you attempt to enter a position in the opposite direction (for example, a short entry while a long position is still open), TradersPost will reject the new entry because the existing long position could not be exited.
  • Disabling Ignore exits restores normal behavior, allowing TradersPost to process both entry and exit signals.
